HOLLY J. MAYO

My name is Holly Mayo, and I am delighted to be able to call myself a Medical Photographer.

I stumbled upon this completely foreign job title nearly 10 years ago, when a one of a kind Medical Photography pro who shot for the Craniofacial Center at Medical City Children's Hospital took a chance on me, and soon after starting my new position, I knew that my life would change forever.

​

I dove into my research and ardently studied everything craniofacial, obviously wanting to be the very best photographer that I could be. Soon though, I started to realize that my sights were shifting. I was being drawn in more and more by the patients themselves and their families while I was getting to know them during their visits.
 

This is where my real education started. The kids and their families were teaching Me, and a new and different kind of love story was taking shape. I learned how to have love and patients for people, no matter what they look like, or how they happen to move through this world. I will be forever grateful for this lesson.

After Medical City and a short year lived in Massachusetts, I moved back to Dallas to work for the famous Dr. Gunter at the Gunter Center of Dallas, which eventually became the Dallas Rhinoplasty Center. Finally then, I arrived at my humble home of over five years - the UT Southwestern Plastic Surgery Clinic.  

Every day, I look forward to showing up, being present, and supporting and encouraging however I can. I've learned that if I do my best, I'll be rewarded with much more than a paycheck, and I am perpetually excited to see where these priceless life lessons will lead me to next. :)
